About Mary Wonderwall

Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and based in Berlin, Germany, Mary is a global nomad, traveling from the US to the UAE, constantly exploring and expanding creative boundaries to capture the world's beauty through her music.

Growing up surrounded by piano, guitar, and accordion players, Mary was immersed in a diverse musical heritage from the start. She began her musical odyssey at the tender age of 5. After overcoming severe pneumonia, Mary was advised to engage in music for lung strength, which led her to join a children's choir where she initially found her voice. Shortly afterwards, she also began honing her piano skills through private lessons, marking the start of her musical journey. By the age of 7, she was formally studying at Music School (Piano), where her passion for music composition ignited a year later. Her early years were marked by experimentation with an old-school Casio synthesizer, capturing her burgeoning creations on a tape recorder, which laid the foundation for her eclectic musical style.

During her teenage years, Mary's musical influences expanded significantly, drawing inspiration from iconic bands like Nirvana and Radiohead. This led her to pick up the guitar, write her own songs, and form her first band, which performed regularly at school events. Her commitment to music education continued with summer courses and tours across Europe with her choir, culminating in her graduation from Music School at just 15. Following this, Mary immersed herself in diverse musical projects, from grunge to electro-pop, performing live, working in studios, and eventually releasing an LP. Her education didn't stop there; she pursued further studies in Pop & Jazz Singing, Electric Guitar Performance, Electronic Music Production, and Music Management.

In 2016, Mary advanced her technical prowess by enrolling at SAE Institute in Berlin, where she graduated with a Diploma and Bachelor of Arts in Audio Engineering. Her passion for film composition took her to Berklee Online University in 2019, where she delved into the art of scoring for film and TV, mastering orchestration techniques and receiving a scholarship in 2020 from Juan Luis Guerra. Today, Mary Wonderwall's portfolio is rich with film scores for short films like "Awake," “What If There Was No War” and others, alongside radio plays, music logos, and compositions spanning orchestral, piano instrumental, ambient electronics, pop, and world music.

At present, her creative spark is ignited by the works of renowned composers such as John Williams, Ludovico Einaudi, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Max Richter, and Stephan Moccio. Mary continues to push the limits of her craft, with ongoing projects and a vibrant presence on platforms like Spotify, Instagram, and X.
